Oh, my, yes. Many times. County fairs rock. They’re usually held on grassy fairgrounds, not blacktop. Far less heat, easier on the feet. Contests in many categories, from pie-baking and quilting to the animals for 4-H kids’ projects. The food is great and the line to rides aren’t two hours deep.

I’d go to a county fair instead of amusement parks any day of the week.

My village Green had a fair, as the Fair community convergent on Nottingham. The fair men gave the young girls free rides there.

Yes, many times! Out west, when I was a kid, I went to the County fair once or twice...4H exhibitions, jam and pie contests...things like that. But there was also always a ferris wheel, and booths with contests and fair food.

The Marshfield Fair here in Massachusetts gets VERY fancy. They have Monster Truck shows, concerts, and several rides and all the contests and booths and fair food.

Then there is King Richard's Faire, in Carver...which is soooo much fun! Because if you want to rent a costume, or make one yourself, you can be part of it!

Many years ago, but generally the County Fair around here is held in the height of summer when the temperature is in the 90s, the mosquitoes are out in force, and the sun is burning -- so I stay home in the air conditioning and miss the fair.

Not country shows (based around agriculture) but I've been to many preserved-vehicle rallies and those have various display events, side-shows, market stalls and exhibition tents.

Fairground rides too, but I'm not interested in those, and don't pay much attention to the market areas.
