My boss gave me a guilt trip because I can't attend the company Christmas dinner

Not cool.

My bf, his daughter, and his dad all have a 5K early the next morning after the date of the dinner (which is being held at a fancy schmancy restaurant from 7pm-9pm), and so we would like to go to bed super early that night so they will be rested and ready.

Also, frankly, I spend 8 hours a day with these people (coworkers and boss)- so why in God's name would I want to spend MORE time with them on a WEEKEND??? Fuck that.

I'm sure you can find another place to mix edibles and hard liquor and inappropriately grope some people in ugly holiday sweaters and revealing leggings. No worries.

@DearAmbellina2113 I've been in the business world for 30 years and I've seen some epic dinners and awards banquets. 😱 Lots of boobs spilling out of low-cut ballgowns, lots of people passing out at after-dinner "hospitality suites". Pretty sure I saw one dude get a handjob from his gf right at the dinner table, LOL.

I'll write you a note saying you're too healthy to attend.

@Harmonium1923 I think my boss just wants to see all the cute women at my job dressed up, honestly, so he doesn't need me there anyway.🙄

@DearAmbellina2113 I’m seeing you there in full Goth dominatrix gear. “Hi, Karen, that’s a really cute reindeer sweater. Have you seen your bf anywhere? I want to make sure he’s ok after I showed him my riding crop in the coat room. He thought the knots were cutting off his circulation but I think he’s fine. It’s the ball gag I’m worried about.”]

I am skipping our holiday party this year.

We all work from home now, and I am just too lazy to commute into downtown DC for a party.

They have a virtual gathering for people who cannot attend in person (some live far from DC now). But I am skipping that, too. I cannot think of anything more dull and annoying than an MS Teams meeting where we chat and play little games, or whatever. I would rather just take a nap. I should be working, but I think I will nap during that time.
My sort of mentality
