When you spend the last month backing the German Nazis, even going full Musk-off with the salutes...

... but then they still don't win so you have to pretend everything's according to plan, because you're too proud to admit defeat

Internationally speaking at least, MAGA is collecting defeats one after the other. Singlehandedly burned Pollievre's lead in Canada with the dumb tariff thing, singlehandedly restored the France-German axis in Europe specifically on the topic of getting the EU out of the US defensive umbrella and Ukraine.

You know I have very strong feelings on this topic. I've been working in and among the capitals of Europe for years now as part of the American presense there. I am greatly sadened by the changes in American attitudes and support coming out of Washington.

But while I hate the way this is happening, if the end result is European unity and self defense, then I think this will be good for Europe and good for the world. It is my hope that as we transition from the post-war (post WWII) global world order to this new order, that we in the western world can remain friends.

@sarabee1995 Me too, don't get me wrong, you know my position in regards to international politics, NATO, etc. as well. This is the only silver lining of the entire situation: the best outcome possible would've been that both Europe and north America renained aligned against the dictatorships, even though unfortunately in the previous status quo the idea of strengthening Europe's defense failed to gain significant popularity in the old continent, now the only positive outcome of these new developments is that the sense of urgency is waking people up, however the US is (temporarily/) incapacitated.

I think it's fundamental that pro-Russia movements don't spread further, my fear was that the E.U. couldn't find an agreement and that Ukraine would fall following Trump's betrayal (predictable, unfortunately, at least to those of us following international politics), and that similar aligned parties (like the AfD) would grow beyond predictions and start throwing wrenches in the gears of the EU - instead the early signals coming out of here, France and Germany so far seem encouraging at least. Even with Musk et. al going full mask-off and all the major SMM platforms endorsing the AfD, they remained locked in the ~20% they had since before the entire "endorsement" began, so overall even if it's still bad the boost didn't happen. The fact that it's also happened so brazenly will hopefully also fast track the (long needed) process of regulating social media, already began with the DSA, which is imo the main fuel of these parties.
@Elessar We've learned what MAGA really stands for!

@ElwoodBlues It's not even appeasement, they're literally aligned with Putin

Notice how even China is more neutral right now 🙈 absolutely wild, mostly expected, but wild
@sarabee1995 you weren't friends.
