That's sad. Cant speak in generalities of course and u know how our beliefs and wishes creep in when we talk like that

but Its sad that Americans are seen as less honest. Actually I agree, Generous yes but maybe not as world aware as their European counterparts and I say those things should go together.

Phoniness covers up a deep insecurity about the place of oneself in life (any milieu, any life-reality) and reasons abound for American insecurity these days. And as I said its all relative but I say this one thing (no single payer health or affordable college or even child care anymore just 4 starters) makes a huge difference.

We literally don't have a right to LIVE in the USA. I don't think most Europeans lie awake at night sweating bullets about that although there are notable exceptions in Eastern Europe etc...

Yeah the brittleness here is palpable, and everyone seems to love to double-cross everyone else. (speaking in more generalities) Keeps me so lonely!
