Questions that make you think.
Years ago I checked into a motel (alone). It was memorable because the sign-in sheet contained a request for weird information. (Will anyone arrive to stay with you?)
But the troubling question was; If some natural disaster or disturbance occurs during your stay, will you require assistance?
I stalled on that one. I told the desk clerk that the answer would require a lot more information. I was okay on my own at the time, but kind of the point of natural disasters was that
Competent people often required assistance when roof fell on them or a river flooded their room.
In the end, I checked the “Yes” box. Nothing happened that night and I left in the morning.
But sometimes I still wonder…
