So wait, this happened in 1986??

But I'm being told by news outlets that we are the cause of global warming (even though in 1986 I never once heard that term) so I call bullshit. Here's an except from an article I was just reading.

"A23a is on the move after nearly three decades of being grounded on the seafloor in Antarctica. The huge mass of ice broke away from the Filchner-Ronne ice shelf in 1986, calved and grounded on the Antarctic’s Weddell Sea floor almost immediately."

To me it sounds like natural life is moving right along and we're here for pictures.
The earth warms and the earth cools. It's been happening for billions of years...long being humans existed. The Arctic areas have been ice-free periodically throughout the planet's history...an inconvenient truth for the climatards.

Example...5.3 million years ago, there were dense spruce and pine forests in the far northern Arctic. Greenland had 30 percent less ice than today, and global seas were about 60 feet higher.

But today, the narrative is that your carbon footprint along with cow farts are heating the earth. The solution to the manufactured issue is really ugly.
How s that “ global warming”
working out these days for EVs?

“ Global warming”
And especially “ climate change”
Are terms used as tools to push and force agendas. Don’t be duped by those who seek power and control.

Don’t be duped by those who seek power and control.
You're exactly right. And those same people who seek power and control are those who deny man-made climate-change (e.g. Trump and Republicans)
@SW-User Power and control are not unique to any polity party. Nor is fear mongering.

Before there was global warming, there was global cooling back in the seventies, I think. Newsweek had a cover story back them about a coming ice age.
@eli1601 Yep. In grade school, they told us that "air pollution" from cars, factories, etc. was going to cause the next ice age. The terminology shifted from air pollution to carbon emissions, and the ice age shifted to global warming. Then when the warming trend paused, the narrative shifted to climate change so that no matter what the weather does, they can blame humans.
The difference is the increase in occurrence. It's the same thing with natural disasters. We've always had them, but never this many.

@BohemianBabe That makes sense.

I'm still waiting for those ice bergs to show up off Miami Beach I was told about in 1959

What do you think caused the ice to break away?

Rising temperatures, caused by us.

@SW-User what I was getting at is, in 1986, I never heard the words global warming. It comes across to me as it's a term that came about in the early 2000's that politicians use for leverage.

@SW-User because iceburgs move toward the ocean they eventually break off. If they didnt thhey would just build up to astronomical depth

@twiigss i agree with you
