Are the global climate changes cause for alarm?

I have been reading Climate Courage by Andreas Karelas upon finding it at a bargain store. This matter of global warming I had come to believe was something which has been blown out of proportion by the media. Could it be a collective hallucination that human industry is causing all these environmental changes? I have a feeling many want to deny the harmful effect humans have on the environment as it's too much of an inconvenience for them to think otherwise. On the other hand, I have been persuaded that some environmentalists are fabricating information to create a sense of alarm. Carbon dioxide has been this great obsession when it's not truly a toxin and I have yet to see any clear evidence that it's worthy of all the media attention and alarmist propaganda about how it's harming the global environment.

yep, it is changing, its been cycling for billions of years. it will be cycling long after we are gone.
@MayorOfCrushtown The ice studies have shown the change from natural CO2 from volcanic action, to artifical pollution starting with the industrial revolution and burning coal in the 1800's.

@MayorOfCrushtown yeah climate change is real but that has always happened anyways.
I think man has delusions of grandiose or whatever that word is when it comes to his impact on nature. Nature could give two sh*ts what mankind does.
@Punches just last year, Southern California had some of its worst blizzards in recorded history. so, yep, its definitely changing. hot cold hot cold hot cold for billions of years.
@MayorOfCrushtown Yet the ice core studies show that this cycle is our fault.

@MayorOfCrushtown What is funny though is when any area hits a really cold snap in winter or summer has particularly hot days, here comes the talk about climate change.

BUT, when there is a really NICE weather stretch (sunny and temps between 60 and 70) in February or July, we don't hear alarms going off.

Hard to complain about 70 degrees in February but isn't that more alarming and unseasonable than say, below zero? 🤨

I seem to remember seasons being more extreme back in the 80's then what it is now. Now it is a bit more steady. So if climate is changing, right now it is for the better.
@Punches when Mexico and Hawaii get pounded with blizzards people seem to forget about global warming.
@MayorOfCrushtown The warming of the upper atmosphere with greenhouse gasses is what's causing climate change and disrupting the artic vortex, making it stream further and further south each and every new year, causing those blizzards. Maybe you need to retake remedial jr high earth science.
@NativePortlander1970 maybe you need to tend to your own business and keep my name out your damn mouth. Worry about your own damn self.
@MayorOfCrushtown You're in a god damned fucking public forum, shit for brains.

@MayorOfCrushtown That is why they changed the name from global warming to climate change. 😄 They gotta keep the scare alive somehow. Man, hard to imagine though Mexico and Hawaii getting any sort of snow.

Also, the one who needs to worry about himself - he is one of the more easily agitated ones on here.
He would spat off to even Ghandi.

@MayorOfCrushtown BTW, there is evidence of climate change having adverse effects, I found this headline -

Due to freezing conditions in the UK the British Naturist Society has seen the size of its male members shrink dramatically.
@Punches cold weather will do that. LOL
