English Summers are not "usually" cold and wet.
We had the hottest June but followed by an unusually cool, wet and windy July and so far, August - but August is often changeable.

@ArishMell In England if it rains on St Swithin day, it rains for the next forty days. Folklore from 800AD. It was actually dry this year on 15th July.

@SW-User Yes - I know the old folk-tale but didn't know when it originated. Nor why. Perhaps they had an unusually wet Summer that year!
