Globally it is the hottest ever, just not here currently. That's the difference we all learnt between climate and weather in high school.

@OldBrit And the British newspapers gave the air temperatures in Greece instead of land temperatures, upping them by two.

@SW-User the measurement is I believe highest ambient temperature then averaged globally. That's the record that was broken in July.
Then of course last week the average global sea temperature was the highest ever recorded and in August which is the one we probably should be most worried about.
