Should the Earth be one country?

So we could easily migrate (away from the heatwaves) like birds. I hate heats!

No.. But one world would be nice. In the end, the direction we take is not as important as the fact that we are all headed in the same direction. Look at what division has done to America. And they are still nominally one country..😷
Adrift · 61-69, F
What dictator would be in charge?
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@Adrift Communism/Centralized control going without a hitch/opperession goes against human nature. These idiots who dream of a global utopia where we all live well off, happy, healthy, and unoppressed are in a pipedream. There is always a dictator chomping at the bit for power. That's why there have been many books (1984, A Brave New World, The Giver), movies (The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc), and other media that illustrate dystopia when communist like systems inevitably fail.

@ShadowWolf Its funny, my kids read all those books and they still dont get it.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@Adrift Wild. Ya I read them in 8th grade. Wouldn't surprise me if the leftist elite try to ban them. I fear once Boomers are gone, the world is doomed.

Perhaps earth will be one country when we begin to settle other planets and systems.

When humanity kicks the hive somewhere out there, I bet the threat of an alien invasion will unify our planet
MarthaT · 90-99, M
@caPnAhab climate change is a tell-tale sign that we are being colonised by aliens.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@MarthaT they can't adapt to the environment.

Solution: change the environment!
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
No. All set with that. No one world gov for me.
MarthaT · 90-99, M
@ShadowWolf Imagine if the world had one country and one gov, people across the planet could fight for direct democracy.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@MarthaT I don't believe in true democracy to begin with. I believe in a constitutional republic. Secondly, due to the nature of the world, cities vs towns/farms, different geographies, different cultures, different types of people, there is not one size fits all. It's better to have separate local/state/country governments. For a multitude of reasons.
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
I'm for it. One race, one planet.
