Are we ruining the Earth because we need more and more places to live? [I Am Concerned About Climate Change]

We cannot keep clearing forests! How will new oxygen be received into the air? We need the trees to help the oceans, the grasslands, ever diminishing, to produce oxygen for all the fauna of the Earth 🌎 to breathe! We cannot steal all the room on land and push the animals to their extinction! We must find a way to contain how we fill the Earth to safeguard the wonder of the Creation!

we are the worst thing that happens to mother nature, without us it will florish
@Londonn without us we have lost our humanity and chance for life here. Not really a good solution.

But reality/life is bigger than us little people

isn't it?
Londonn · 36-40, M
@Elevatorpitches yep.. not a good solution for us maybe but for it, it worked great for million years :)

People ruin the earth for many reasons, but seems to me many just don't care that is what they are doing.
As for places to live... houses sit empty and rot away. Other buildings stand vacant and yes...homeless people find ways in and use them.
We don't need more buildings. We need to utilize all that are standing empty...give them a purpose again. Recently, a whole block of houses was torn down to build something more commercial.
Now you did it! You got me started! lol
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@SW-User So true instead of urban sprawl we can more effectively utilize the empty spaces in our cities. And AFFORDABLE housing too.
SW-User
@JimboSaturn "affordable" is another thing many aren't caring about when adding dollars in their minds on how much they can make off a house or apartment buildings.
Some people...greed is what motivates.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Let me guess you live in the city and you listen to the Sierra Club and their doomsday predictions. The earth is healthier now than it has been for centuries.
@hippyjoe1955 thank you. I am not sure how much have traveled around the world. How many countries? I have lived in 3 continents and 5 countries around the world, have traveled to 4 continents and close 20 countries around the world, have been to over 30 states. I think I know how big the globe is.

Let's see where have you been to?
@aaaabbbb He hasn't been out of Alberta where Moose come into the city.
@Pitchblue Moose drive trucks in Alberta. Ford 150s
The oceans are dying too...plankton which relied on the sun for life are dying from the sun now. whales will disappear, and everything in between. And the bottom troller fish- ecosystem murderers are aggravating the death of ocean-life all over the world.

And no more capacity to absorb the CO2 so no more years in the future for the grand collapse. Its happening now.

More plastic is in some oceans now than WATER. Men can't spawn due to the plastic pollution and without new life we might as well kiss our collective ass goodbye...say this to your kids too, the "lucky" ones who managed to get born.

but why take the whole planet down with us?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@MrBrownstone bunch of idiots they are. It take more water and trees to make paper.
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
No. That's not why. We have the old places, and we need to use the cities. Here, Amazon is involved in construction, whole neighborhoods, and these giant two hulled trucks are dumping Canadian shale from the oil project at a gargantuan scale.
In the actual Amazon, bull dozers clear the forest. Not for condos.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Stopmakingsense Yes the sand is removed in some mines. The oil is extracted and the sand is replaced. What else would you do with it? Too much to just leave lying there. However it is then reclaimed and the area is returned to its natural state. You should see the reclaimed areas. They are thriving with wildlife native to the area. Incredible. However there are more than one way to clean up the oil. They also extract it using steam and gravity. Nothing is disturbed and the area remains in its native state. Wolves, bear, deer, moose bison etc etc etc. You have been drinking the leftist doom and gloom koolaid for too long. You should come visit the area. You would have your eyes opened.
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
@hippyjoe1955 you should see the effect on the water table. You should see the effect on my area.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Stopmakingsense Not where Canada is removing oil from sand. In some of the reclaimed mines there are stocked fishing ponds.

Stop requiring cheap meat and foodstuffs is a good place to start

Actually the reason the forests are still being hacked down at a terrible rate, isn't to build houses etc, it's for farming. Beef.

@hippyjoe1955 The Amazon for one. It's not imaginary.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SW-User What?

JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Humans don't have to literally inhabit every corner of the earth to ruin it for ourselves and other species.
curiosi · 61-69, F
It would appear that Bill Gates has found SW.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Plenty of open space in deserts
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SW-User She’s ok with people dying in car accidents but I’m not responsible.
SW-User
@MrBrownstone Well, I'm not sure what that is about...and since I don't...I'd rather not take a side.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SW-User I respect that. But thanks for letting me know what happened on this thread
BalmyNites · F
Well the population growth has vastly decreased with Covid - the UK alone has its lowest official birth rate since 2001
BalmyNites · F
@JimboSaturn It’s a fact that global population is decreasing/stabilised
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@BalmyNites I hope you are right. I have heard projections as such.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@BalmyNites Hopefully as women all around the world become more empowered, they will be more than baby machines and over-populations will be less of a threat.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
We are a long long way from overpopulation
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 Plenty of areas on earth with no one living for miles.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@MrBrownstone And your point is????? The earth is not in danger or stress. Wildlife both plants and animals are greater in number than they have been for centuries. There is no mass die off or extinction event happening. The funny thing about forests is that they grow back. Great effort is spent fighting a forest fire but the fire is not destructive it is regenerative. Ever been through a forest recently burned? It is teeming with life. New plants all over the place and with it abundant animal life.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 My point is we are not over populated
LandOfOz · 61-69, M
We àre slaves to a reptilian race of aliens. Blame them for ruining the earth not us.

Did anyone else picture Greta reading this?
