Is the Cult of Net Zero setting up human society for M.A.D (Mutually Assured Destruction)?

Or are we already on that trajectory and nothing will stop it from eventually occuring?

I'm in the latter - that it's inevitable that eventually we'll destroy ourselves (or the universe will do it for us).
