I feel bad for people who have to work outside in this...

The pollution from the wildfires is bad. Every time I walk outside my eyes burn and even with my inhaler I'm struggling. My rich neighbors have a landscape crew working, is it really that important that your yard look perfect when the air quality is going to hurt people...?

It was pretty bad here yesterday. Yellow haze all day. Bit better today

@SilverF0x Glad to hear it's getting better your way.

@EldritchFox Wind blowing smoke away from here. Unfortunately fires aren’t contained yet

Around Toronto where I live had one of the worst air quality in the world yesterday
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
@JimboSaturn do you guys know what's starting them?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@EldritchFox Lightening, natural causes as far as they know. There hasn't been much rain and the forest is dry.

@EldritchFox Ontario’s current forest fires are primarily driven by extreme heat, dry conditions, and high winds, which create ideal conditions for wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly.
Weather and Climate Factors
A prolonged heatwave has significantly intensified Ontario’s wildfire season, particularly in the northwestern regions, creating extremely dry conditions that make forests highly flammable

. The presence of a heat dome over the Great Lakes region has trapped hot air and smoke near the ground, further exacerbating fire behavior and reducing visibility

. Low humidity and high temperatures have dried out vegetation, increasing the likelihood of ignition and rapid fire spread

Yeah I'm in Wisconsin right now and it's in the red. Yesterday was beautiful blue skies and poof out of no where smoke everywhere :(

@EldritchFox yeah :/ we're on vacation and thankfully for the workers the great wolf Lodge closed the outdoor pool. It sucks for us but I'm glad they didn't try to keep it open. It's really nasty outside.

@Turtlepower That's still an awesome place to be while the air quality sucks. Awesome they are taking care of their employees though. Have fun!

@EldritchFox Thanks! Yeah, definitely is. :)

Must suck. I would wear a mask.

@JimboSaturn They're Hispanic laborers in rich boomer land so naturally nobody cares if they have what they need to be healthy and safe. They should be given the day off.

@EldritchFox Absolutely. Breathing in this shit is dangerous. But alas, the US has no humanity particularily for people who pick our food for us.
