Malaysia stops accepting plastic waste from the USK and other rich nations.

Part of a larger push back against richer nations using other countries as a dumping grounds. Good on them for standing up for their own countries 👏

The United States produces more plastic waste than any other country in the world. Hundreds of tons person. About 90 percent of it ends up in landfills, is burned or shipped overseas. Last year, more than 35,000 tons of it was shipped to Malaysia. Malaysia received more discarded plastic from rich nations than any other developing country.

But last month, Malaysian leaders effectively banned future shipments.Exactly. Malaysia is joining a whole host of other countries that really started with China a few years ago, standing up to the United States and other countries and saying no more. We do not want to keep being your dumping ground and accepting your waste and really holding the United States accountable for our own pollution.

The dirty secret about recycling plastics is that to 'recycle/reuse' plastic costs more than producing new plastic.

Viable recycling remains paper and glass.

@JSul3 Steel and aluminum?
JSul3 · 70-79
@Crazywaterspring We usually do not place steel and aluminum in our curbside recycling bins that are picked up weekly by our city refuse contractor.

It's so gross how trash is dumped in poor countries, good for them. 💚 🌼

Plastic waste from California and New York that is. What will they do now?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@gregloa You're saying the Midwest don't waste? I'm sure they do.

No wonder PBS funding was stopped by current administration. lol
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Nick1 PBS didn't force Malaysia to stop accepting our trash, why are they to blame?
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Oops i bet they forgot the money that US taxpayers send them
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@MarineBob The United States is one of the biggest producers of trash. If Malaysia can't keep up with our trash, one could hardly blame them and it's not just America but other richer nations.

Grow up and be more responsible. Tf is wrong with you maga. You just act like everyone owes you.
