They aren't going to do anything. It was the same thing 20 years ago. They just keep kicking the can down the road.
Better hope the free market fixes this. 😉

@SumKindaMunster I think the free market will fix this. Renewables are becoming cheaper so rapidly that it will soon make overwhelming economic sense to ditch fossil fuels. We have all the technologies right now to get almost 100% of out energy needs from renewables (long distance shipping and aviation remain problems); all we need to do is scale up. Additionally, phasing out government subsidies from fossil fuels and switching them to renewables is a no brainer...

@SW-User Better hope so. The world governments are too busy blowing up Ukraine and Russia to care about this.
BTW, it was almost the same shit 20 years ago. Back then though we kept pushing for a world climate agreement, basically looking for concessions from the BRIC countries to not burn their environments down, like we did our own. After almost 20 years of this, they finally extracted some concessions during the 2016 Paris meeting, and then declared the problem solved.
Whoops! Looks like we already blew past those agreements and here we are in 2023 with the situation worse than it was before.
