Too many people believe the planet is just infinitely exploitable, and/or use the faulty reasoning that "well, we have to eat" without also attempting to control their excessive accidental or intentional procreation drive or consume a more stable diet or believe that nonessential agriculture (mere recreational crops, not essential food or medicine crops, for humans, not for livestock) is a suitable reason for deforestation.
If you can manage your population, then the nonessential recreational crops are easier to tolerate. As it the "everyone should live on 5 acres" mentality.
Earth is a finite resource, and humans only comprise 0.01% of all life on it. And the Elon bros just want to spread the virus of humanity to as many habitable (for now) planets as possible. Brillliant!
