It’s crazy to think that the Academy Awards are quickly becoming part of a bygone era

Viewership for the annual Academy Awards has been plummeting tremendously in recent years and has just been getting worse every year. It was announced that starting in 2029, the Academy Awards will be moving from ABC to YouTube, where it will be exclusively streamed for free for the foreseeable future at that point. Makes sense, when you think about it. No one really cares about the Oscars anymore. I won't get into the reason why, there are plenty of YouTube videos critiquing them that can explain it better than I can anyway. But I think at this point, it's safe to say the days of the Academy Awards being the most highly anticipated award shows in film are over and will only appeal to a niche audience anymore. But with how crooked Hollywood is these days and the blatant political pandering all these celebrities do, it's pretty clear who the Oscars; target audience is. Actually, strike it being crazy to think about. It's actually kinda funny knowing they'll soon be celebrating themselves on a new YouTube platform while still pretending they're relevant.

I can't believe we're seeing this, given that Hollywood is so far up its own ass. But, there are so many cringe, shark jumpy moments such as the amount of Best Picture nominees, what, are they up to 20? Lol.

I used to go to a movie series every Monday. Now I never go.

@uncalled4 The Oscars are no longer relevant. Just take a look at the passion project Kevin Costner’s been working for 30 years — Horizon: An American Saga. Critics give it overwhelmingly negative reviews, but for general audiences, the common complaint is that it’s a bit slow, but other than that, it’s a great series
