This is a very complex subject. Any Historian knows, there was International involvement, Export business reasons and many other reasons.
Why disparage Southerners?
The Northern states, took longer to abolish wrongs.
May we agree, It was a very unacceptable and unfortunate, staining of our History.

Oh please, it's not like the entire South participates in things like this. Some people are into historical re-enactments.

There are lots of re-enactments all over the world. It can be educational and fun.
Sadly there is a segment of America that wants to remember that time not for educational purposes but to try and bring that era of slavery back.

@wildbill83 will you also write clear declarations of the importance of slavery as the reason for fighting and then after you lose will you try to change that reason to something about state's rights?
