Translation of two Dutch tweets.

Lesbian:
I don't understand why strangers in the street want to know which one of us gave birth to our daughter. What are you going to do with that information?

Guy:
How is that a weird question? Why do you see everything as an attack? If you don't want to talk to people, go live in a remote cabin!

If you see a straight couple, chances that the man pushed out the child are pretty slim.

Dude, whether you can or can't know without asking isn't the point here. 🙄 The question is how that's any of your business and why you're even interested in that. 🤦

Why is it that they never ask the same question of straight people???

I mean... adoption and surrogacy exist and happens... so, in that case, the chances that the man or woman pushed out the child are zero.

@HootyTheNightOwl true, and I think "is she yours" is a fairly common question most people would find acceptable. "Which one of you gave birth to her" is along the same lines as that, but it feels a lot more invasive.

@NerdyPotato The thing with "Is she yours" is that it doesn't really cover "Who birthed this child" - which seems to be the hang up for the author of those tweets. It's loose enough to allow you to hide adoption and surrogacy if you are not yet ready for the child to learn about these things.

Even so, though... whoever birthed the child is of no business of anyone other than the child and those involved in it's creation - especially in the day and age where we have step parents.

@NerdyPotato If some random person in the street had ever asked me if any of my children were mine I would have been first dumbfounded and then annoyed that anyone would ask such a personal question of a stranger.
