What in the world is "one and a half page long" intro? Like what kind of standard is that?

Wrote a proposal for a research paper. Apparently my introduction was "too long" (a thousand words". I was instructed to cut down on some of it to "make it shorter". So I did. Got it reviewed. Now it needs to be "even shorter". I'm like WTF? This info is important I can't cut it shorter I need this to introduce the audience to the topic without deficit of facts. But I was instructed that the rule is that your intro has to be "one and a half page long". Yeah. That's the "scientific method" for y'all. Piece of crap. Where is this written? Show me! "oh it's just that I've worked for them for so long that I know what they accept and what they reject". Ugh. Okay.

I wrote a paper once for an upper level Mayan art history class. The teacher was brutal but really liked my term paper which ran about 10 pages long. He said to cut in down to 7 and he would get it published in an art history journal.

Took me forever.
But i did it.
Submitted it.
Never found out whether it got published or not. Moved out of town before I heard back.

@JohnnyBliss it's absurd these rules. Like I need those paragraphs to get my point across okay?? It contains vital information! And cutting down on words usually means making short, abrupt, dry sentences which squeezes the life out of the article. I'm a human not a robot!!! If you read scientific articles from the 20th century they are a lot more flexible, have hand drawn material too, and photographs, and even some comedy, or snarky bi.tchy comments on rival studies. It's so much fun to read. Like sis get me a cup of tea I need to know the whole drama! 🤭
