Why do we stammer and stutter?

It's an absolute pain in the arse for those of us who have this particular brain-wrong.

My experience has been that the majority of the time I can speak very fluently.

The words flow together. Each one is easy.


But sometimes it's an a a a p p p p h h h.


Perhaps the amateur neuroscientists in our community could enlighten us... :)

When I was a school girl there was a boy in my class who stuttered; I remember he underwent professional therapy when he was 16, and his stuttering disappeared completely. All I want to say is there is help available.
