I Hated Physical Education Class

Knickers and bare feet. We weren’t allowed our bras @QuietSophie

Hard and cold!! It was always freezing in the sports halls @QuietSophie

@KatieJ So was our gym. Doubly painful when you are running around in bare feet 😬

The cold slap of your bare soles. I still remember it. @QuietSophie

@KatieJ But it was OK when we had mats to do gymnastics on 🙂 And showers to warm up in after class 🙂

We didn’t have showers 😒 the mats were still cold at first but at least you had some padding underfoot. @QuietSophie

@KatieJ I sometimes used to put my feet under the mat while we were waiting to be told what to do 😌 All girls had to do the lesson in bare feet, but only the forgetful ones had to strip to their smalls 😄

I used to stretch my tee over my knees and over my toes. When I remembered it of course @QuietSophie

@KatieJ Aw, poor girl, you must have been so cold and embarrassed! We had to tuck our T-shirts into our knickers when we were doing gymnastics so they didn't flap around 😬

So did us but Miss never checked @QuietSophie

@KatieJ And when you didn't remember your T-shirt, I guess you just had to freeze in your knickers?

@KatieJ One time when I forgot my kit we were doing partner work in gymnastics. I had to stand in the middle of the hall in nothing but my pants and vest while other girls leapfrogged over me 🐸

Oh no! Poor little Sophie... your teacher must have been in a cruel mood. @QuietSophie

@KatieJ She was pretty angry at me for forgetting my kit. There was no getting out of PE that day 😟

@KatieJ No, I was too shy and timid to talk back to a teacher, so I just went in my undies as she told me. I complained endlessly to my mother when I returned from school, and she had no sympathy whatsoever 😟

I wouldn’t be surprised if our mothers did PE in knickers as the norm to be honest. @QuietSophie

@KatieJ Yep, that was probably all they could afford in the olden days 🤣

I hope somebody made my horrible PE teacher run around in just her pants 😒

@KatieJ I used to wriggle my toes a lot when sat in the school hall. That used to keep my feet warm😀
