I personally find cash annoying so whilst I approve of society moving towards a less cash dependent society, I still feel we need cash around.
Most elderly in Singapore still need cash and it might be considered ageist to deprive them of a convenient way to make purchases.
Cash is also necessary in case of emergencies like say your phone goes dead or you lose your wallet and you need to make payment etc.
Until we manage to solve and all issues with abandoning cash, it will be around for a very long time to come.

@Longpatrol There is a growing movement in the uk ( in the areas I travel to) to boycott places that don’t accept cash .

@devonman I wonder what the average value of purchases is like in those kind of shops that don't accept cash. I presume quite high.

While I hate rudeness to retail staff , it does cause bad feeling .
