How often do you have to think in new ways?

Been attempting to get use to the relatively new way bookmarks are done in foxfire browser for a number of years now. Around 5 years now actually. 🤣

Yet the minor details take a lot of rethinking that I have a hard time in remembering them. In particular in renaming of folders and placing them in new folder structures. I just don't find the whole system very intuitive.

When I see that "X" on a folder I keep on thinking delete folder item when instead there's both delete and edit structure options on it. Same goes for the actual bookmark.

The whole system to me seems counter intuitive, yet I don't believe that they will ever go back to the older way of copy and paste. So I must change my thinking on this.

It just seems so darn hard when it could be so much easier the old way of doing it.

So how often do you have to change your own thinking? It doesn't have to be even computer related.

@Unlearn And here I thought the yearly hazardous waste standards changes was bad. 🤣

Every year everyone has to be recertified in this state because of the changes.

I once worked in hazardous waste for twelve years.

@DeWayfarer My job requires me to get into a lot of troubleshooting sessions/ meetings. While most of the issues are repetitive and have a standard solution. But then every once in a while something new comes along...I enjoy it.

@Unlearn I suspect many people can not handle that type of job because they just refuse to rethink their methods.

@DeWayfarer You're right. Most people we interview and select are not great at thinking on their feet. Even experienced professionals begin to wobble when they run into a new issue which needs to be resolved within a deadline. One needs strong fundamentals, calmness and be willing to learn new technologies, to do well in this kind of job...

@Unlearn age as well has a lot to do with it though. What I found easy only six years ago I currently have problems today.

Not that experience doesn't have its own value, because I remember well many things that are currently being used today where few younger people don't have a clue where to begin.

It's the combination of both experience and flexibility of mind that is very rare.

@DeWayfarer Yep. In my 20s I could sit for hours together and geek on topics I needed to learn. Now I need to take regular breaks...
