Is it trendy to be autistic these days?

Like not all the way but just a bit?

I have never met more autistic people than I have in the past 10 years... I think Doctors just say you're autistic or have ADHD when they can't figure out what your problem is... people who are gluten free is another one. 🤷‍♀️

@FreeSpirit1 there’s a few reasons for that… first is that occurrence of autism is increasing and we’re not quite aware of why. Second is that autistic people have always existed, but the more severely autistic were warehouse by people in cruel and unimaginable ways. Third, rather than live a life of misery and not understand why life is more of a struggle, being able to be diagnosed as autistic and understand why it is you do certain things in my experience is unbelievably helpful.

@SW-User A lot of autism experts are out there too.

@FreeSpirit1 from first hand experience a lot of experts on neurodivergence are autistic… go figure right? I might be blowing your mind here but a lot of NBA coaches are former players! Crazy right?

@SW-User why would that blow my mind,?

@FreeSpirit1 Social media has created many "experts".

@FreeSpirit1 I was being sarcastic… fuck and I’m the autistic one?
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@SW-User and I was saying there are a lot of experts out there, because in my opinion doctors are over diagnosing people as autistic so it has created all these " experts" medicine is money.

@FreeSpirit1 exactly! I think some people truly have an issue but it is way overused and a lot of people look for something to be wrong with them.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Keepitsimple It's my opinion too. People need to chill the fuck out, hearing something different from their own opinion is too much to handle I guess.

That kid who blocked me can suck an egg. What he doesn’t know is I have a son with ADHD. I honestly feel that people want an excuse to excuse their stupidity. That being said there are people who are truly dealing with something and trust me…I didn’t let my son get labeled easily. @FreeSpirit1

@Keepitsimple ADHD is all over my life. I know many people with it, some diagnosed, some highly likely to have it. Makes life...interesting.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Keepitsimple I think He is saying if you think it's diagnosed too often you are denying his illness... Or something. I'll never find out because he blocked me like an angry troll.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@FreeSpirit1 He probably does have it but the truth is many people are misdiagnosed and even happy they have something to blame their failure on. It’s not easy life for those who actually have it.

@uncalled4 I have a friend who listened to school nurses who said her son had mild autism and attention deficit disorder and had her 10 yr old on Ritalin... Untill she got a Second opinion from a doctor who said he just needed more physical activity in his life.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@uncalled4 I lived at the school with my son. As an adult I still keep things in order for him.

@FreeSpirit1 There are certainly a number of hacks in the practice. But, a good doctor is priceless, and I have experienced ADHD people off of their meds and it's like playing darts with Stevie Wonder. Ritalin, Concerta, etc., works wonders for ADHD people.

@uncalled4 Giving a rambunctious 10 year old narcotics is not an oops. It's messed up
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@FreeSpirit1 It sounds like you got some bad advice
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@uncalled4 it wasn't me

@FreeSpirit1 Sorry, I work overnights and I'm loopy at this hour
