University education is very important to me for careers and intellectual enrichment
I should have never dropped out over ten years ago. But it’s going to take at least a few years to save up enough money and get scholarships and grants after earning some vocational certificates of completion and diplomas to make sure I have enough of an income because I need to make sure I never have to take out student loans again. My parents are still helping me pay back my old student loans. And my parents will help me pay for school one course at a time if it is an on campus program. But I want to do online programs. If I finish my certificates of completion online after all these years of getting stuck on them ( I have lifetime access) then I can do diplomas and degrees online too. I don’t care if I will be well into middle age by the time I finish if that’s what it takes or even a senior citizen I will get those degrees, certificates of completion, and diplomas. I plan on being very active in my older years anyway making up for lost time in my youth where I didn’t take enough action and I allowed life to pass me by partly because of indecision and giving up too easily when things got tough ( like getting stuck on my courses) and just dealing with mental illnesses and these last few several months cancer but early stages. I have been unemployed for quite a few years now even though I tried to go self employed with things I was not good at like selling fashion online, cleaning houses, and I was better at petsitting and dogwalking ( I enjoy animals just not picking up their shit and walking in bone chilling cold.) I had unskilled jobs in retail, home health care, and cleaning medical office suites. None of which lasted more than a few weeks to several months with very few hours. My courses from skillcrush.com and knowadays.com could give me a chance at a decent career where I can work remotely with flexible hours and make decent money to save up. Knowadays.com guaranteed work with company proofed.com if I pass the courses and work trial period and skillcrush.com with making a portfolio of web based projects to land me a part time job in tech for beginners. I want my higher education partially for intellectual and personal enrichment but also to be able to advance in careers that are skilled and pay better and give me autonomy, independence, freedom, flexibility, intellectual stimulation, and creativity. And that I can do from anywhere and handle with my challenges. And careers that are recession proof and in demand. I need jobs that allow me to work at my pace as long as I get the work done by the deadline and deliver a high quality product. I don’t like dealing with people and their demands or problems as a line of work. ( customer service/sales/retail) I burn out easily and like learning new things both in my hobbies/ passions and work. I need a harmonious quiet place to work with without rigid rules and schedules. I don’t like being told what I can and cannot wear or can and cannot do like when I can take a break from work or eat my meals. I like having control over where, how, and when I work. I’m most productive and alert in the afternoons, evenings, and overnights into the early hours of the morning. I get tired by the time early morning rolls around. I am not functional in the early hours of the morning and mid morning and do not feel like getting up until late morning early afternoon. I don’t feel alert or productive or creative before early afternoon which makes a 9-5 impossible for me. Doing the same thing for eight to ten hours is a surefire way to drive me nuts. Vocational training and university education are ways to help me meet my goals with hobbies/passions/interests/talents/skillsets/aptitudes and career aspirations. I’m terrible at unskilled jobs and make a horrible traditional employee. I’m not meant to be an entrepreneur exactly but would either like to be freelance/ self employed/independent contractor with long term clients where the agencies find you the clients instead of you having to go find them on your own or flexible and remote employee with full benefits. I like what is called career security. I don’t like cold calling people and my skills have to speak for themselves because as an introvert I’m not great at selling myself although some introverts do this very well. While I am a warm person when you get to know me and I don’t mind socializing one on one or in small groups, I also need my alone time to replenish myself. When something interests me I can also be quite talkative but there are other times I can also be quiet. University education is important to me because learning for its own sake appeals to me and broadening horizons is very important. Also a person can do that being self taught as well. University is too expensive nowadays and needing to take out loans to get an education is ridiculous.. but I am in favor of making higher education accessible to all who want to pursue it especially for pleasure as well as career.
