Do not just trash your posts with low quality backlinks though. Meaning don't link to trash sites that are just pumping sentences. Make sure the site is reputable and they are citing facts. Also, check to make sure your backlinks are still active after some time. No sense on having the links lead to nowhere. Finally, and not lastly make sure it is a site you won't mind being "associated" with. And vice versa.
