How much backlinks are important in SEO?

Backlinks are very important in SEO(Off page SEO).Basically a backlink denotes a vote for your website which means the content of your website is valuable , beneficial and useful for others and this increases your ranking in Search results. So the more backlinks you have , the more your site will grow. It generate organic traffic for your website.

Do not just trash your posts with low quality backlinks though. Meaning don't link to trash sites that are just pumping sentences. Make sure the site is reputable and they are citing facts. Also, check to make sure your backlinks are still active after some time. No sense on having the links lead to nowhere. Finally, and not lastly make sure it is a site you won't mind being "associated" with. And vice versa.
