Dear friends my heart breaks

My college boy has been struggling so hard. He thinks he needs to drop out due to failing. And he of course is very unhappy. This hits me hard. So much hope I had for him. I did not see this coming. I failed him in some way. I didn’t teach him to work harder and use self discipline.

. college is hard. How far is he in school and studying what? i had friends that dropped out got a trade and did just fine in life.

i have a degree but still feel we push college way too hard and look down on the trades. It is so competitive at the college level--constant bell curve grading -- i remember it was so much stress.

It is good that he is coming to you to talk. I had friends that dropped out and told their parents months or a year after departing college. Dropping out can probably make one really feel like a failure. Sorry for both your pain.

Better he leaves now then wastes his time and money
He many go back after he figures things out
Just support him but he has to find he way/ place

Maybe he can get a job in his field and continue his education later. Failure is something thst happens, not something you are.
