My very unmotivated nephew wants to go to college

I told him it’s bad idea. He is a C student in high school and has no clue what he wants to do with himself. I told him he needs to get a job and figure it out. His parents are not too happy with me. Am I wrong?

College used to be where one figured things out and decided what they wanted to do, not the workplace. College, or a trade school. If his parents are willing and able to pay for that foundation, it makes more sense in the long run and will give him more options in the workplace rather than a dead end job.

@bijouxbroussard His parents are not rich. Which is why I’m not recommending it. He’s going to waste their time and money…
@Quetzalcoatlus As a practical matter, a community college might be the only place that will take an unmotivated C student. If he flunks out, not as much money wasted, and he learns something about himself. If he does well, after 2 years he can transfer to a full bachelor's degree program.
