"FREE COLLEGE WOULD CREATE A DANGEROUS “EDUCATED PROLETARIAT”

As Biden cancels (some) student debt, remember why the debt exists. A key Reagan advisor warned in 1970 that free college was producing the dangerously explosive "dynamite" of an "educated proletariat," and "we have to be selective on who we allow to go through higher education"
A rare moment of right-wing honesty. If the workers are educated, they'll vote for their interests, and that scares the rich and powerful class.

Nothing taught in college you can’t learn online.

@badminton Training is not the same as education.
@MrBrownstone The training of professionals involves lots of education.

This is so stupid. With the phone in your hand now, you have the knowledge of the entire world at your fingertips, yet people are stupider for it. Knowledge <> wisdom.

@Mcmarie90 So your logic is "the system has flaws, let's try to make it even worse"?

Go check the figures among the dropouts and the "home-schooled" and compare.
Mcmarie90 · 31-35, F
@Elessar so your logic includes lumping all home schoolers in with dropouts, then comparing them to kids that stay in school? There are some parents that "home-school" their kids and don't actually do anything. Then there are homeschooled kids that would be in the highest percentile of high school kids based off of test scores. And dropouts happen for many reasons, and not all drop outs are the same.
My logic is "the system has flaws, maybe it's the system". The original post was making the argument that the only way to become educated is with college. My argument is that there are other ways to become "educated" and college does not have the monopoly on "education" that most people think it has.
