College closed early for Christmas

I was in college on Monday. Term ends on Friday but we already knew we would end Tuesday because of covid. Then Monday afternoon we had the message not to come in on Tuesday. And I go to school on Wednesdays to do Maths. But Monday evening I had the message that school has closed a week early. So suddenly I am all dressed up and nowhere to go! I have had online college. And I have loads of college work to do. But yesterday I got Christmas cards and presents ready for posting. And in the afternoon I took my repeat prescription to the surgery. They had told us to do it early for Christmas. I am Type 1 diabetic. I need insulin to live! And posted everything that needed posting at Fforest post office on the way back. I even used 2nd class stamps. Never happened before. I am a last minute Christmas person!

It's all to be expected it's the new normal try and anticipate the way ahead if you can do that it'll be a lot easier.
@senghenydd I adapt but mine is a practical subject and I cannot finish my work without kilns. The uni came down hard on us last summer when we couldn't be in college. And insisted on marking us on what we had done, not on what we would have done in college. Well, sorry, when you got to melt enamel at 840 degrees, the kitchen oven doesn't quite do it. I'm quite angry really because less practical subjects could still achieve.

@LilirWyddfa Now I understand
@senghenydd I have been told by my tutor that I would have had a First but I got a 2.1

@LilirWyddfa Well at least you received your degree it's simply the Pandemic has caused problems everywhere my old friend Ron lost his life to this nasty virus he lived in a Care Home he was ninety five friends couldn't even say good bye.
@senghenydd I know it's hard. I didn't get my degree yet. But our Year 2 marks count towards our final degree. You think I am callous. But my degree matters to me and I want a First. I just want a level playing field with those who don't need workshop equipment. After all, the unis have worked out what we need to do to get the same credits as other subjects. And now they are forgetting all that. My first has to be as good as that of the History student has all her resources online.
And just to say it's a blip because of the virus is not acceptable.

@LilirWyddfa Yes I see the problem here only the Uni can sort this out a level playing field with all your hard work just do your best keep a record of your actual time spent in the workshop and the hours you have lost that should count tell your fellow students to do the same then you have a case.
@senghenydd The unis validate our degrees. They are only really interested in Latin and Greek scholars. What do they understand of all the research I done?

@LilirWyddfa I fully understand this pandemic has caused this world to be torn apart simply stay calm and carry on, bash on regardless I'm sure when the dust finally settles you'll be pleased with your hard work, the Tutor maybe shouldn't of said what he said simply do your best.
@senghenydd Our tutors want the best for us but it's an FE college which teaches HE courses and the uni is remote and has no understanding. They only understand traditional subjects.

@LilirWyddfa I think I understand it's simply out of your hands can't do much about it other than get all the other students on the same page united you are strong anyway I have to leave SW now nice chatting to you have a nice Christmas.
@senghenydd Good bye, Senghenydd. Nadolig llawen a Blwyddyn newydd dda.
