Does it make sense to say I’m an “English student”? [I Began College]

In the same way a film student would put “film student” in their bio? I’m just curious. I’m working toward an English Major so if I were to put that in my bio, would I be putting it correctly? Or maybe I just put that lol dumb question, I know, but I ask questions about everything.

~~~UPDATE~~~
figured it out. Lol thanks, everybody.
English Student might mean you are from England or that English is a second language. Maybe English Major is better.
If someone doesn’t understand that English doesn’t mean nationality in regards to your education, then that speaks to their level of intelligence and not yours. It’s always common to say, “I’m an English Major/student”.
I agree! Thank you! I ended up putting English Major. I feel like that works better lol @DecafD
