I Am In College

In high school they pushed college down our throats but nothing interested me there nor was I going to pay good money to go for something o wasn’t sure about.

I took a few years for myself and worked simple jobs to make some money.

I had a niche for computers and went to the book store and got some guides which helped me and became certified in:

Comptia A+, Security +, and Network +

Got my CCNA and my CISSP.

Then went to trade school for cabling, electrical work, and carpentry.

You were very wise to make that choice. I come from a large family network where the parents strongly encourage the kids to follow their interests like you have. It results in a lot more content for what one is doing and for who one is.

So, good for you!

@lily88mercy I never understand why people think you need to jump into college right after High School. I thinks it’s great to take a year or two off. You can build up money. Learn some new skills and see what you want to see under you’re own time.

I think it's because college has become, since the 1960's, the "avenue to success." This was based on statistics giving the impression that the higher one's education the more income earned.

In reality this was never a dependable statistic. Nor was the "avenue" really a path of success when one looks at the reality that one's happiness rests on realizing one's human potential...and that is only realized when one, takes time to seriously think about it, and experiment, like you have done.
