I loved it, too, back when I majored in English at Portland State University way back in the 70s.
Then I got an M.A. degree in English Lit. I liked that a lot, too.
Then I tried to get a job. I didn't like that.
As far as I can see, if you major in a liberal arts subject, like English, you have three basic options in the job market: Schoolteacher, English professor (if you continue to the graduate level and acquire a Ph.D.) or bag lady. I wound up reluctantly picking teaching.
Consider changing majors if you aren't planning on being a teacher.
