Every time someone says they graduated college I immediately think high school lol people should stop using the term "college" to avoid confusion

@Qwerty14 "College" is more of an American term.
@chrisCA In British English it refers to secondary school, not tertiary. Plus technically any school system can be called a college. It isnt a very good term. To avoid confusion just say "high school" or "university"

@Qwerty14 I don't see how it could create confusion. Can someone enlighten me?

Edit: okay I think I got it 馃槅
@emereese So in non American countries a "college" is a school you go to usually between the ages of 13-18. Americans consider this high school.

A school to obtain a degree and do research etc is called a University though it seems Americans sometimes call these places "college" and that creates confusion

@Qwerty14 Ooooh that makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up 馃尲

@Qwerty14 Canadians have absorbed American culture, even though we are part of the Commonwealth. We officially call them secondary schools, but most people refer to them as high schools. Grades 9 to 12.
What Americans call colleges, we call universities.
Canadian colleges are a different type of post secondary institution.
@chrisCA See that's even more confusing. Best avoid the word "college" altogether

@Qwerty14 Maybe, but "College Football" has a nice ring to it. Lol
