On The Topic Of Intelligence... 🧠

A lot of people seem to highly value intelligence. And, I admit, I enjoy talking and doing things with very intelligent people.

However, I submit, intelligence is a stand-alone commodity, and has nothing to do with character or intention.

Ex: I'm certain a serial killer will do a much better job of serial killing with high intelligence than with low.

I would much rather spend time with someone of average, or even lower intelligence who is kind, compassionate and loving, than with someone of very high intelligence who's an asshole.

Very interesting conversation. Intelligence as it's usually understood, as cognitive or analytical ability, benefits the world far less than compassion, courage, and devotion to fellow human beings. But I really enjoy intellect, especially in my friends. I think that intellect--especially the love of reading, writing, and reflecting--gets a bad rap.
