I Admire Wit and Intelligence

I see intelligence as one of the most important qualities a person can have.

A person cannot be intelligent if they can't take responsibility for their own life. You are not in a bad mood because another person is annoying you, it is your bad mood, and YOU are allowing that person to get on your nerves.

An intelligent person's primary language is energy, but they are fluent in emotion.

They know how to read other peoples emotions and they know how to control their own.

They listen to what people have to say, and can accept that other people have opinions that may be different from theirs.

An intelligent person asks questions when they aren't sure, they never assume or jump to hasty conclusions.

An intelligent person WANTS to learn, anything and everything, and they always welcome different perspectives.

They gather all information available and discern for themselves.

They are never afraid to try something new, or to be wrong about something they thought they knew.

"A person cannot be intelligent if they can't take responsibility for their own life. You can be in control of your emotions and be an idiot at the same time.
Actually most of what you say only ties to emotional intelligence and not intellect.
"They listen to what people have to say, and can accept that other people have opinions that may be different from theirs. " This i agree with.
"An intelligent person asks questions when they aren't sure, they never assume or jump to hasty conclusions." an experienced person does that, an intelligent person makes hasty mistakes like everyone else and learns trough experience.

"
An intelligent person WANTS to learn, anything and everything, and they always welcome different perspectives. " not true, an intelligent person can be extremely focused and goal oriented, intelligence doesn't necesarily mean eclectic.

"
They are never afraid to try something new, or to be wrong about something they thought they knew." an intelligent person is still a person and fear is a human trait, many brilliant minds held on to wrong ideas.

@kayoshin I appreciate your opinion. Although I did not provide labels, the compartmentalization you offer is a nice perspective I believe semantics are subjective, and do not necessarily merit labeling my opinion "wrong"

@Typicalpisces Omission is a form of being wrong, you denied intelligence where it didn't fit emotional intelligence restricting the definition of intelligence by a lot which is wrong. The differences between intelligence types are not my own though so i can't take any credit. You can say a person is superior in your view for having superior emotional intelligence but stating that "cannot be intelligent" is false just as lookong at every highly intelligent sociopath can prove.

Being an intelligent person, your definition is pretty close. The only thing I would change is the mood thing. An intelligent person knows how to redirect the conversation or avoid the situation that would influence their mood. One area you are missing is sharing. Intelligent people pay attention to detail and love to share their knowledge but it isn’t always appreciated.

@Livingwell very well said, consider this added to the definition 😊

Excellent definition

@GJOFJ3 thank you! Anything you care to add?

@Typicalpisces no this is very complete unfortunately often missing.

I think you have great perspective.
