Wouldn't it have been simpler to say it reached 123 degrees Fahrenheit? Not everybody has the time or the patience to convert it.

@PlayaCat22: I first heard of it when I was maybe 13 or 14, but like Celsius it was comparatively new, and probably newer than Celsius. Fahrenheit was still the conventional scale.
