Not surprising, considering they teach to the lowest common denominator and don't bother giving most kids the extra help they need. I hardly bothered paying attention in school and still aced pretty much every test I took.

Except spelling tests, I always sucked at those.

Also since in any situation with that large of a population, you expect half of the data to fall below the mean.
