It is crazy that young high school students are no longer given the option of electing classes that teach trade skills or practical house and home or office skills before graduation.
When I was in the 7th grade I began my mechanical drafting classes and wood working. In 8th grade I added schematic drawing and electrical wiring practices. By 9th grade I enrolled in metal and fabrication shop practices. Considering I also was taking a l basic science class and basic algebra class, by summer I was doing part time work in a mechanical shop.
These days those grades barely teach how to outline a book report.
In High School in the 60s we took courses on NEMA construction electrical codes and ICR Engine rebuilding, lathe and mill operation and investment casting.
Universal public schools don't teach shlt these days. They should be offering CAD, FANUK CNC , TDYNE or SHP systems even at the jr. high school level.
Post k-12 is far too late to teach youth that have had sex and drugs pushed forward in their conscious awareness with the help of screwy teachers and screwyer media giants.
No wonder there's homeless, high crime rates, rotten marriages and stupid news on the tv.
It never was like that in the time when I was coming up in youth.
