Gahhhhh I wish ChatGPT was around when I was in school

Obviously it would have made it very easy for students to cheat, but even if I were to never use it in a way that could reasonably be deemed cheating, it could have changed everything, having something that could help me understand and study and research any subject in any way I needed.
Breaking down math problems into however small steps I needed with explanations tailored to my learning style, dumbing down complex or confusing passages in a text book, quizzing me on my understanding of the subject and identifying the areas I need to work on and giving suggestions how, locating citable sources that have exactly the information I need that I wouldn’t have otherwise found, giving me ideas of what themes I can explore in an essay, making me a homework/study schedule that’s to my comfort level and accounts for my neurodivergent needs… I might have actually finished college… for better or worse, AI is going to change a lot, especially in terms of education.

You either never understood (and possibly still don't) the purpose of a teacher or you were self-educated.

@MarkPaul newsflash, not all professors teach in a way that is suited to your learning style, and when their office hours are like an hour and a half twice a week at the same time as your other classes and you have 80+ classmates, expecting them to give you all the time you need is completely unreasonable. And again, if they don’t explain things in a manner that clicks with you, you’re SOL. Unless you have a handy AI that can tailor its explanation to however you ask of it.

And seriously, did you even read what I wrote? Because I clearly explained a bunch of things an AI can do that a professor can’t or often times won’t.

@Zeuro Yes, I read what you wrote and suffered through a 2nd reading on your admonition that I might have missed something. Newsflash: I didn't. Maybe if you learned not to overdramatize everything (EVERYTHING) and ask smart questions you would get a professor to zero in on your (mass) confusion so you don't earn zeros.

Maybe you should work on your social skills so when you approach a professor you are focused on the information you need instead of telling your life's story in an embellished way to gain sympathy. If I was your professor, I would make you fill out a form to teach you how to be focused. When I have a question, I stay focused on the topic and keep it precise and sharp. I can only imagine how much extra processing time ChatGPT needs to work through your ramblings.
