When you were in high school, was there a teacher who scared the stuffing out of the kids?

For me and my classmates at Central High School in Philadelphia, that teacher was Elliot Cades, an English teacher. He was formidable. He was a lawyer by training and he was demanding and sarcastic. Used to verbally rip kids to shreds.

Our english teacher was only mean when he was drinking. Unfortunately that was all of the time until he went into detox and treatment. Remember him throwing a kid down two flights of stairs.

My grandmother had a one room school teacher in wisconsin in 1897 that beat a student to death in the wood shed. The town sent him away.
I see.. he was super serious.. and mean? 😳 i was homeschooled it was just our mom and dad and our workbooks.. then my mom left the country when i was 13 and stayed for a whole year there.. i never had school again

(But i got my ged latter in my 20's)

Oh yes. I think every school has at least one. Sometimes you get to meet them in 'real life' when you're older and you've left school for a few years. It's then that you realise that actually, when you get to know them..they're still formidable!! 🤣

One of our PE teachers, Ms R******. Not scary as such, but used cruel sarcasm and psychology to divide and undermine girls in her class. And behaved fairly inappropriately in the changing room too 😐

@WandererTony I i wouldn't remember since I've been to so many schools. It's not even funny.

There’s an award named after him, now.
