Why do teachers who obviously do not enjoy being around children choose a profession surrounding kids?

I have had a few teachers throughout the years who make it crystal clear that they do not like being around us.. I just don't get it lol.

@prettylittleliar: Are the teachers you describe older or younger? Take into account how underappreciated/underpaid teachers are. It's one of the most important jobs on the planet, yet one of the most underpaid and underappreciated. If you're a teacher, that can really wear you down over time. For example, Mrs. Johnson began her career as a fantastic teacher and gradually, her abilities (for lack of a better word) slipped down to that in your original post.

i go to a private christian school.mostly older teachers. all over 30 i guess
Middle aged, 40's I would say. it seems the elderly ones and the younger ones seem to be the ones that enjoy what they do, they really should pay them more, money makes the 🌎 go round after all! :)
