What grade were you in when you had your first male teacher?

7th grade for me. When I went to school (many years ago), there was an unwritten rule that teachers in the lower grades had to be women. It was because nobody wanted male teachers taking little girls to the bathroom.

My early teachers were crabby old women brought back from retirement because the men were all at war. Later there were some shaky veterans rumored to be heroes, that I suspect had PSTD - "You know he was a rear gunner and the only survivor?" I wonder if any of it was true. A couple of them were skinny & frail with frequent nose bleeds.
