What grade were you in when you had your first male teacher?

7th grade for me. When I went to school (many years ago), there was an unwritten rule that teachers in the lower grades had to be women. It was because nobody wanted male teachers taking little girls to the bathroom.

We had male teachers in grade school, all my teachers were female except the gym teacher was a dude.

@BrewCityBarfly I didn't count gym teachers. We had roving gym teachers in 5th and 6th grades, one male, one female, and they went to all the schools in town and would alternate so we saw each one every two weeks.

The female teacher liked to walk into the boys locker room while we were showering after gym class to "hurry us along". We learned to shower very quickly.

@eli1601 Wow, that's surprising. We didn't have a locker room in my grade school, gym class was a few times a week, and we just wore street clothes. Wasn't until 7th grade middle school I first experienced the communal lockers and showers. Of course, our gym teacher was a dude, and the girls had a woman gym teacher.
