I'm having fun with the bachelor thesis I selected, we're doing some machine learning and I've got the responsiblity for signal processing

We're doing gunshot detection, to the left you can see a diagram of the fingerprint of a colt1911 explosion, and to the right a glock45 explosion. I'm learning a lot of new interesting things 🐻

It's interesting that it's called a fingerprint. So, does that mean a shot from a Colt1911 will always look like the one on the left and a Glock45 will always look like the one on the right?

@MarkPaul It will depend as much on the ammunition used as on the weapon itself.

@MarkPaul It varies a bit but if you get 100 different samples and then train an algorithm with that to detect the weapon type, then hopefully it should be able too get consistent results

Because of the different rifling?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Notanymore Because of all factors

@MartinTheFirst that's incredibly interesting. I want to research that more. Thanks for posting

Use a Nuke....won't need to finger print hand gun shots.
