I would like all US citizens to learn to speak American:
Fiscal responsibility, America First, national security, economic growth and prosperity, peace through strength and above all personal responsibility and freedom.

@SlaveEt In order to speak true American people should learn the Na-Dene languages.

@FragileHeart
Those languages belong to the Native Peoples of this continent. America is newer than that and a conglomeration of many peoples and languages. We citizens of the United States of America all chose to live free and in peace under the United States Constitution.

@SlaveEt Exactly it belongs to the Native people! We destroyed their lands and stole it without respecting their language and culture. America should have never been founded especially not the way it happened.

At one time this continent belonged to them. It now has different stewards. If one reads history (from any country or era) one will find negative and positive aspects to the fall and rise of every civilization. Humans are the same the world over, and no one group of people is any more wonderful or kind when carving out their piece of the world than another.

However, so far, the United States of America is, and has been from its inception, one of the most free civilizations the world has ever know. She isn't perfect but then neither were the humans who created her.

@SlaveEt The United States are not that old. I take great issue with the way we deal with our history and how proud we are of it. It's stained with blood and I wish we would treat it as the Germans treat the Holocaust.

Freedom can be interpreted in many different ways. We may have a certain type of freedom (individual freedom) but that doesn't make our nation great. Living in both the US and Europe I must say the quality of life is much better over there and our military machinery does not grant other nations the same freedom and independance.

Our history has its ugliness, yes. However, as with all peoples, America and her people are not all ugliness, darkness and atrocity. I am a realist. Therefore, while I love my country and am proud to be an American, I can admit to not being proud of all aspects of our past. We have made mistakes, and continue to make new ones. At the same time we have done what we can to learn from those mistakes, right the wrongs we can and do better in the future.

The great thing about personal freedom is that we have the freedom to make our own life, instead of being dependant on the government or others to make it for us. The US does a pretty good job of providing equal opportunity (which is different from equal outcome) to its people. This freedom allows them to provide the quality of life for themselves (and their family) they are willing to work for.

The US military's job is to protect the US and her interests. They are not, nor were they ever intended to be, the police of the world. We can help those willing to fight for their own freedom but it isn't our job to grant or provide for it. After all, nothing is more sweet than that which we worked hardest to earn.
