this online learning is a joke no matter how good the teachers are it doesn’t compare to learning in a classroom setting. No hands-on learning in art, sports, music, etc. Just playing around like they are using Pinterest or something.

And they are doing it here at the university, thinking many of these students are getting a passing grade as a participation trophy.

@cherokeepatti More than 100,000 students just...dropped out...as soon as the classrooms went online. How is a single parent supposed to stay home if he or she is the only breadwinner and his or her job does not involve a computer? That parents would have their child taken away by the state.

There are schools in Colorado, (spoke to my cousin about this), where THIRTY SIX different languages are spoken by the students, who are not always fluent in English.

@4meAndyou Not everyone has a computer or Ipad or internet connection. The local schools started loaning IPads to students after the summer was over because some of the students weren’t participating due to not having an internet device or maybe it broke & they didn’t have $ to replace. COX was giving free internet access to everyone if they had a connection and I suppose that helped. And heard on the news at least one school district was going after parents whose children weren’t participating after it started last year.

@cherokeepatti THAT's going to help. Going after parents.

@4meAndyou Another concern is that children home all day with one out-of-work parent who may be drinking at home sets the children up for child abuse. The police is my city have reported double the calls for domestic violence in 2020 as in the previous year.

@cherokeepatti Yeah...we know about that risk. Parents can snap. Everyone needs respite now and then.

@4meAndyou sexual abuse too
