Quote:" If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed." Thomas Jefferson.

In the vice-presidential debate, Kamala Harris "quoted" Abraham Lincoln. Paraphrasing Harris, she said that when Abraham Lincoln was 27 days away from the next election, he said he would NOT nominate a justice for the Supreme Court until AFTER the election, because the American PEOPLE deserved a chance to elect their OWN choice for the Supreme Court.

The only problem with that is that Kamala just made that up. Abraham Lincoln never said that. He did NOT nominate a justice for the Supreme Court because Congress was not in session. They didn't return until 3 days after the election. The MOMENT Congress returned, Lincoln submitted his nomination.

But Kamala Harris thinks the American people are so stupid they will just believe any made up story and fail to check on it. Even left wing leaning Snopes says what she said is false.

I don't think she was actually attempting to quote him, just retroactively implying an intent. Which is egregious in it's own right.

That said, it isn't anything the GOP and Mitch McConnell tried during Obama.

@MethDozer This is her direct quote from the link I gave you above:

“In 1864 … Abraham Lincoln was up for reelection. And it was 27 days before the election. And a seat became open on the United States Supreme Court. Abraham Lincoln’s party was in charge not only of the White House but the Senate. But Honest Abe said, ‘It’s not the right thing to do. The American people deserve to make the decision about who will be the next president of the United States, and then that person will be able to select who will serve on the highest court of the land.”

@4meAndyou I know what she said, I just think she was ignorantly expressing her interpretation of his thoughts and thought process, not trying to quote him.

All right...you say she misquoted out of ignorance? Ignorance is not something we normally see in a former Prosecutor and DA. But former prosecutors are somewhat known for twisting the truth in order to win for the State. I think that's what she was doing. Just my own interpretation of her thoughts and thought process...🤣

@4meAndyou Her being a former prosecutor is kinda why I don't thickness was actually attempting to quote him as opposed to what I said. Prosecutors often believe they know what someone is or was thinking when they made a choice. Or at least pretend to.
Prosecutors being less than honest we definitely agree on. To be frank her being prosecutor, or anyone being a prosecutor, is a check against them seeking office. Don't think anyone like me actually likes this chick. It's ironic though that "law and order" conservatives now want to hold her former position against her though since cutthroat prosecutors are usually their jam.
Just like when a parent or authority figure says " I told you not to do that but, you said I'm going to do it anyway" to a misbehave child. They aren't actually quoting them.

@MethDozer Agreed. She's sly and sneaky, and no one likes her, but if Biden is elected Nancy Pee is already setting up the machinery to take Biden down, pretending she's doing it to Trump.
